Jonathan

In this post, I will provide a detailed explanation of the hero Jonathan, covering how to obtain him, upgrade his skills and talent tree, and integrate him with other heroes.

How to get Jonathan?

The only way to obtain Jonathan is by acquiring 10 of his fragments during the Rider Top Commander Event. This is the only method, and the Top Commander is a challenging competition where you need to rank at least top 15 to obtain 10 fragments.

Talent trees

Jonathan is a rider type hero with the secondary talent trees General and Support. Since the General talent tree is largely ineffective, it’s advisable to concentrate on the rider squad and allocate some points to the Support talent tree. His build would look like this:

Skills

  1. His first skill is called Focused Strike and hit the target with a damage factor of 12500. In addition, if the target is a rally it will reduced the target’s HP by 20% and reduce the counter damage received by 15% for 2 seconds. This skill indicates that Jonathan will be an hero to attack rally.
  2. His second skill, Recycle, heals the squad with a factor of 11,250 each time you kill a squad. It can be triggered every 30 seconds. In addition, every 20 seconds, you have another damage factor, this time of 7500, to a random target. In my opinion, the healing ability isn’t very valuable because you’ll likely need it most during tough battles when you won’t be killing as many squads. The extra damage factor is nice. In 20 seconds, you can make the hypothesis that you will have 3 skills which means it is like having a damage factor of 15,000 (12500 + (7500/3)) on the first skill. However, the 7500 damage factor can be dealt to another target.
  3. His third skill is called Base Sets Sail. You have a 20% chance to reduce the skill damage received by 25% for 2 sec. If you are in the alliance territory, it will cause additional damage with a damage factor of 2,600. It can happen only once every 6 seconds. I don’t like so much this skill either cause you might reduce the skill damage when there is no skill which is useless. And extra damage factor is only in the alliance territory. So you can assume that Jonathan will be at his full potential only on a rally attacking your fort, tower or the shelter of one of your alliance member in the alliance territory.
  4. His fourth skill is called Resource Adjustment increases the rider attack by 25% and when the remaining troops falls below 30%, your squad attack increases by up to 20%. I suppose it’s an additional 20% but with a 30% squad you will do less damage anyway so the additional bonus won’t matter very much.
  5. His awaken skill is called Precision Air Strike. It’s a skill enhancement of the first skill and it increases the damage factor from 12,500 to 13,750, increases the HP reduction to rally target from 20 to 25% and increases the counter damage reduction from 15 to 20%.

How to upgrade his skills?

For every fighting hero, you need to upgrade the 1st skill, the raging skill, first. I recommend upgrading the 4th skill next, followed by the 2nd, and finally the 3rd. The suggested order would be 1, 4, 2, 3. You want to upgrade the 4th skill next because it applies in every situation, and the 25% attack increase is likely to have a greater impact on your damage than the extra 7,500 damage factor. Then you want to upgrade the 2nd skill and get the 7,500 damage factor and finally the 3rd skill last because that skill is very random.

How to combine Jonathan?

Jonathan doesn’t have great talent tree such as the skill talent tree so I would only use him as the assistant of the squad. You can combine him with any other rider hero having a skill talent tree like Bella, Elena or Freya. He is best combined with Elena because Elena deals more damage to a flanked target, resulting in Jonathan dealing more damage during a counter rally.

Conclusion

In my opinion, Jonathan is probably the worst hero to invest your legendary fragments. Because his skills are highly specific and conditional. I would just not use him at all. You have much better rider heroes you can upgrade. For a counter rally with riders, Bella/Elena would be a better choice. So invest your fragments in Bella or Elena instead.
