Doomsday: Last Survivors – Guide: Decoding the user interface

If you just started this game and you feel overwhelmed and lost by all the different components of the game, this guide is for you. In this post, I will explain all the different components and functionalities you can find in the game. From how to personalize your account to translating messages in the chat, you’ll know everything you need to know to make your gaming experience enjoyable.

Account settings or Commander Info

Located in the top left corner of the user interface, the account settings icon is represented by a picture you can personalize. Once you click on it, you will enter another page where you can change your name, change your account picture, your portrait frame of this picture, and your chat bubble in the top right corner. On this page, you find your IGG ID. This page is your player profile that other players will see to check your equipment and stats. You can modify your commander picture at the bottom center of the page. The pictures available depend on the heroes you unlocked.

This page contains a tab “More Info” with all your stats: might stats, battle stats, and resources stats. It contains also a tab “Squads” where you can find your number of troops in the shelter and the squads present on the battlefield. At the bottom right of the page you can find 3 tabs:

  • Ranking: It tells you your ranking over the region on various criteria from might, kills, gathering, etc
  • Feast: This page includes all the achievements of your account.
  • Settings. This is the place to go to modify any settings such as graphics quality, resolution, sound effects, etc… You can choose your default language. If you have any issues with the game, this is where you can contact support. You can also claim any gift code.

The stamina is used as energy to kill zombies or hives on the region map. It recharges all the time slowly but can not increase once it reaches 1500.

Events and Mall

Doomsday: Last Survivors features many events. These events are gathered in the “Event Center” tab in the top right corner. In this tab, you’ll find all the events currently going on and the next event planned in the calendar. In each event tab, there are many rewards you can collect if you meet the requirements. Also, the major events are shown on the user interface with a tab dedicated to it, for example, “Top Commander”, usually these tabs are found on the left of the “Event Center” and “Mall” tabs. In each event tab, you can find the rules and the rewards you can gain from participating in the event. The “Mall” tab is where you want to buy packs to progress faster in the game.

Campaign

The campaign menu can be found in the bottom right corner with 3 other main menus. It offers different gameplay experiences and some varieties to the game as well as extra rewards to progress more quickly in the game. There are 4 types of activities on this menu:

  • Z-Virus Adventure offers a tower defense type of game. You use a line-up of 3 of your heroes to kill waves of zombies.
  • Memory trip is 80 missions you need to accomplish with up to 5 squads. Each squad is made of your heroes and the troops you have trained. In each mission, you’ll have to defeat squads of zombies and in some instances a boss.
  • Arena Of Doom is a platform where you can have a line-up of a maximum of 5 squads to defeat squads of another player. If you win the battle, you take the rank of the other player and each player receives rewards depending on their ranking.
  • The recovery of Pompeii is an alliance versus alliance. Both alliances are constituted of 30 players fighting on a map. The map is formed with buildings the alliances need to capture. The occupation of the building brings points to the alliance and the alliance having the most points wins.

Bag

The bag is the section of the game where the commander can find all their bonuses like speedups to reduce the time of any construction, research, healing troops, or training troops. He can also find extra resources, materials to upgrade his equipment and other items to upgrade his heroes, relocate his shelter, increase his stamina, etc… There’s also a new tab called armament where the commander can gear up his heroes.

Alliance

The alliance menu is the area where the leader and the members of the alliance can find everything they need to progress in the game together. From developing the technologies of the alliance and increasing the strength of each member to helping each other by reducing the construction time of each building, the research time of each of your technologies, and the healing time of your troops. You are also able to lend one of your heroes to help the members of the alliance progress in the Z Virus Adventure.

By helping the alliance to progress, you gain coins that you can use in the alliance store to buy bonuses. There’s also a warfare tab where the members can rally to attack cities, towers, forts, or other players’ shelters, but also hives of zombies that bring gifts to all the members once killed. They can also see the upcoming rally from enemies attacking the alliance. After, you can see the alliance’s territory and all the cities, towns, villages, checkpoints, and bridges the alliance captured. Each settlement gives extra buffs to all the members to be stronger and progress faster in the game.

Hero

In this menu, you can see all the heroes you recruited in your shelter. This is where you can upgrade all your heroes. You use experience books to level them up (or kill zombies) and each level gives an extra point you can use in your talent tree but it also gives extra squad capacity. Each hero has also a rank you’ll need to upgrade to unlock the skills of the hero. The levels of the skills will have to be upgraded over time with fragments you gain by participating in the different events and winning the events. Finally, each hero has 2 modes of playing, one when you use the hero on the battlefield and one when you use it in Z Virus Adventure.

Each hero is suited for a specific task. Some heroes are best to gather resources, some to fight zombies, and some to lead specific troops or mixed troops. Others can be used to siege cities, towers, and shelters. You also have specific heroes to defend your shelter.

Region

Clicking on the Region tab will take you out of the shelter view and enter the regional map. This is where all the battles happen, where you can fight zombies and hives but also other players. It is also in the region map you can gather the resources you need to develop your shelter and train your troops. Your shelter can be found very easily because your name is written under it. It is also written in green whereas the shelters from your alliance are written in blue. For all other players, their name is written in grey. The same colour code applies to the squads.

Chat

The chat that is found at the bottom left is straightforward. Nevertheless, as a beginner, I didn’t know how to translate messages from another language. You can access this functionality by clicking on the small icon on the right of each message.
